Last Year’s Mardi Gras

Here in Bear River we are really fortunate that musicians like to come and play here.

These videos and photos depict a previous Mardi Gras when Joe Murphy and the Water Street Blues Band, helped along by Juno award winner Garrett Mason, came to play.

The place was rocking and the longer the band played, the better they got.

In past years people have come from far and wide and danced the night away.

Sounds like a wonderful event…wish I could go but it is the same night as the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council’s annual “Celebration of the Arts” fundraiser in Annapolis Royal.

That is too bad Heather. However, our event will go on until 1 am so if any attendees are super keen, they could attend both! I see how that wouldn’t work for the organizers though! Have a great time. May we both raise lots of money and have fun doing it!

Sounds like this might be fun! After the winter I’ve had (or not had…lol) – might be just the thing to perk me up!
Costumes, music, laughter and some great entertainment and being out with everyone again might be just the ticket!

I remember when i was growing up in Bear River in the early 1950s, the Grand Ole Opry would come to town every summer. Big name Country Music stars would actually appear in our Oakdene School auditorium.

Those were the Golden years of country music and they will never come back again.
