Frontier Town: Bear River, Nova Scotia: a snapshot in time, by Mike Parker.
“What a fabulous celebration last night! I could have danced all night, and schmoozed ’til dawn. The decorations blew me away. Amazing band. Great food, loved the Cajun rice and beans, corn bread, etc. This was my first BR Mardi Gras and I’m already looking forward to next year. I love Bear River!”
Saturday night’s Mardi Gras in Bear River with Caleb Miles and his band was loud and raucous; sweet and tasty. It was an evening filled with strange costumed guests from near and far. Thanks for stepping out with us!
And a very special thanks to the many volunteers who made this festive evening possible.

Here in Bear River we are really fortunate that musicians like to come and play here.
These videos and photos depict a previous Mardi Gras when Joe Murphy and the Water Street Blues Band, helped along by Juno award winner Garrett Mason, came to play.
The place was rocking and the longer the band played, the better they got.
In past years people have come from far and wide and danced the night away.
